Three months ago, I managed to finally work up the courage to submit my application to go on exchange for my third year. After proofreading my statement of interest a million times, and getting fellow eAmbassador Asha (Thank you!) to go over it just to make sure all the t’s were crossed and all the i’s dotted, I hit ‘Submit’, internally screamed, and carried on with my life.
This morning, I checked my e-mail, and lo and behold, the words that I’ve been waiting to read since December 14, 2016, were staring right back at me:
“It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been nominated for exchange to Utrecht University, Netherlands, for the 2017-18 academic year.”
I quickly turned to my friend and gave her a hug because I just couldn’t contain my excitement! I mean, WOW.
This is such a unique opportunity that I’m honoured to have been given and I’d just like to thank my professors who agreed to give me a reference, my dear friends for their unwavering support and for lending an ear when I needed to vent about how much stress I felt during 1st semester + the added pressure of doing research for exchange + actually going through with the application (I’m sure they wanted their ears back after that) and last but most definitely not the least, my amazing parents who never once doubted that I could do this and for supporting me 100%.
Anyway, there are still many things on my to-do list that I need to take care of. Am I scared? Yes. Am I aware that I’m literally jumping into unknown waters? Definitely. Am I excited??? HELL YEAH.
